Martin Smith

Air Commodore Marty Smith is a recognised expert in Defence logistics. As the Director General of Air Force Logistics, he was responsible for the strategic direction of all engineering, infrastructure, supply chain and support systems during the RAAF's transformation to a 5th generation Air Force.
His significant leadership experience includes command of 3,200 uniformed personnel that enabled airbase capabilities, force protection and expeditionary operations. He has commanded a multinational force in Afghanistan, and was awarded the Commendation for Distinguished Service for outstanding leadership in warlike operations. He has operated across the globe working in over 30 countries, and represented the Air Force in two exchange postings with the USAF. This included a two year appointment at the Pentagon where he was responsible for the development of Future Logistic Concepts.
He has completed executive studies at ANU's National Security College, and the US Defense Force's General Officer Executive program at Chapel Hill University, North Carolina. His academic and leadership achievements were recognised by his alma mater when he was awarded USQ's International Alumuni of the Year for 2014.
AIRCDRE Smith is an AICD graduate and holds numerous directorships including Chair of a Commonwealth statutory corporation.
